Mcdonalds causes a lot of health issues. From obesity to blood pressure and beyond. As you can see in this article, it is applying to our emotional feelings, which is pathos. Ths article is saying that if you eat mcdonalds food, you will gain a lot of weight and be unable to move your self. As you can see the message that it says in the article " I'm luggin it" attracts our sympathy towards the person. He his stuck in the wheel barrow and can't move on his own. So in a way the article is applying to our emotional feelings, which is pathos. The food that is shown the hamburger, fries and drink, is the cause and the fat man is the result. This article is applying to our emotional feelings, so that we dont get in the same situation.

Advertisment

One must get life insurance in order to protect his or her family in case of an emergency. This advertisement shows a pathos approach because it shows a young child who lost his family due to an attack by ninjas. Although it is a funny advertisement it shows that disaster can happen at any time. In the advertisement the child looks deeply depressed and lost without his family witch catches the emotion of the ad. If someone where to come across this ad they would feel a sense of sympathy. This ad has a humerus element to it by stating the his family was attacked by ninjas. The advertisement grabs the attention of the reader makes it essential for someone to get life insurance.
The advertisement for the Subway diet represents all three forms of persuasion. Although the advertisement represents ethos, pathos and logos we feel that ethos is the most well represented appeal. Ethos in this advertisement is shown by the amount of weight he lost and how he achieved success through the Subway diet. For example, the advertisement states, "Man dropped 245 pounds on 2 subs a day". We also know he was successful because the ad includes a before and after photograph along with a synopsis of his quest while on the Subway diet. Ethos is affective in this advertisement because the company is showing clear cut facts on how he went about the diet.

Final Project, Advertisement using the three appeals

This is an AT&T commerical in which a group of business people are car-pooling and one of the guys gets a picture message faster than everyone else because he has the AT&T network. This commerical uses both ethos and pathos to persuade the viewers. They use ethos by having the gentleman with AT&T receive the message before everyone else, which is persuading the viewer that AT&T is the fastest mobile network and if they want the best service. It also uses pathos because the message the guy receives is funny and he lets out an obnoxious laugh. Laughter and humor both play a positive role in persuading people with the pathos method. Using ethos and pathos are more effective in commercials because the obnoxious laugh gets the viewers attention and keeps them drawn for the rest of the commercial because the viewer wants to see what is going to happen next, and thats when the ethos comes into place. Once the viewer is paying attention, the commercial brings in the ethos effect in that they are the most trustworthy and reliable network, and that is why the viewers should join them.

The Station Agent

Finbar McBride, in the station agent, has a difficult time socializing with people. This is because he only needed one person in his life that would not make fun of his height and see him for who he is as a person. The first time he spoke to Joe Oramas he thought Joe was going to make fun of his height and when Joe started talking to him he didn’t respond with much answer because he doesn’t know Joe that well. This is because he is not use to talking to others. Finbar got hit by a lady in a black car named Olivia Harris; she didn’t see him on the road. Olivia asked him, “Are you okay do you need a ride” all he said was, “No” and kept on going. This shows that even in pain he rather not ask for he because he is use to doing things on his own without being ask if he needs help or not. Finbar and Joe were suppose to go to the bar to hang out and have fun but Joe didn’t show up, the next day Joe went to see finbar. He got mad at Joe and asked Joe to leave, Joe said, “My dad had a problem and I had to take care of him” Finbar didn’t understand this because he thought he had a friend that will be there for him all the time. This shows that he doesn’t care about other people emotion and problems. This information shows that Finbar struggle to make new friends and hard time to communicate with others.

In the movie "The Station Agent" Finbar McBride is the one character who stood out the most to me. Not only did Finbar over come his fears of vehicles but he made friends and did not ignore most of the people that came around. I believe that Finbar changed the most and grew the most as a person. At the beginning of the movie Finbar was a character who blew almost everyone off and had a bad attitude. For example, when he moved into his new house, Joe greeted him but he was short and said "do you sell coffee?", Finbar did not want to have a nice conversation, all he wanted was his coffee so he could leave. He never wanted to speak to people nor did he have a sense of humor. As the movie went on and he met new people Finbar began to get to know others and put more time into conversing with them. You could also tell that the other characters noticed change in him as well. The other characters wanted to get to know him, since they wanted to get to know him they never gave up. They always tried to talk to him and make conversation, as well as hanging out with him. Without the other characters I believe the Finbar would not have had such an incredible change.
In the movie "The Station Agent" Finbar McBride goes through the hard times of trying to live the American dream, but there is one other thing he has trouble with and that he is a midget. It starts out with Fin living with his best friend. But when his best friend dies everything goes away. The shop that he worked at is taking because it was owned by his best friend. His best friend left him a little place right by the one thing he loves and that's trains. When he moved there he just wanted to be left alone. But the people around him like Joe Oramas wanted to be his friend. Joe was working at the little Mobile shop that sells like coffee and like hot dogs. Joe just loved being around people, and he finally got Fin to open up. Then Fin meats Olivia who wanted to find more about him and then they got to know each other through her hard times. Fins biggest problem was that he was a small person. Every time he walked into a room people would look at him. Joe, Olivia, and Cleo got to know Fin for who he is not how little he was. Through there friendship they had there problems but like good friends they worked through all there issues. At the end they all became good friends and all they problems of the past were in the past. I think Joe really mad Fin come out of his shell and started doing stuff with other people. Fin knew he could trust Joe because he knew he was a good person. Joe never did anything other than talk a lot to make Fin mad and that's why Fin trusted him.

The Station Agent Paragraph

In the movie "The Station Agent" Finbar, who is the main character in the movie relizes that life is better and fun with having a lot of friends by the end of the movie. In the beginning of the movie,Fin was a quite man who like to talk to himself only and nobody else and only use to have one friend who later died. After a while Fin moved to a new place that his friend used to live and meet new people but he did not talk to them.everytime he would come out of the house and go to the place where he gets the coffee from Joe and not talk to him and only answer what he is asked. After a while he meet a woman named Olivia and started talking to her. After a while him,Joe and Olivia went for a walk to where the trains use to pass and talked. After a while a Fin got use to the place and start going to places by himself like to the bar where he seen the libarain woman and talked to her even though he wanted to see Joe.Also at the beginning Fin meet a girl named cleo and little bit talked to her.she started liking him and asked him if he could come to class with him to talk about trains since he was good at trains. At first he said no because he did not want to see people and want to be alone and not in front of kids or any person. At the end of the flim he went to her class and started sharing in front of the class about the trains which made cleo really happy. Also he went from no cell phone at the beginning of the flim and started having a cell phone and talking to people and hanging out with them.Fin was important character beacause if it was not for him meeting others he would not have change and would have been alone

Change

In the movie The Station Agent, there is on main character that changes very much. Fin starts out by being a very quiet guy who always kept to himself. He never really talked to anyone very much, and when he did he only said what was needed to be said. Fin would never say more than what was needed, only the bare minimum. In the beginning of the movie Fin is left with a home right next to the tracks, that was left to him by his friend he worked for at a toy train store. This really set up how Fin changed throughout the movie. When he first moves in he meets a guy named Joe who owns a mobile store, where he gets his coffee in the morning. In the beginning all he wants to do is get his coffee and be on his way, but this would change later in the movie. He also meets a nice lady named Olivia on his way home from the store. These two people would really change Fin as a person. Fin would always try to keep to himself, and all he wanted was to be left alone. This would change once Joe would constantly prod him into trying to do different things with him, like going on walks. Also, a combination of him and Olivia would turn out to make this happen. Fin eventually gave in, and the three of them went on a walk to a deserted bridge where the trains used to pass. They also had dinner at Olivia's house together later in the movie. These different events helped Fin to become a more outgoing person, and he actually started to be more social. If I was in his position though, I feel I would want to be left alone considering all of the grief I would have got for being a little person. Befriending Joe and Olivia really helped Fin, and all in all made him a happier guy.

Personal Change

Christopher and Finbar are two very unique people. These two people are almost complete opposites. Although are polar opposites they do have one thing in common and that is their quest to find acceptance in a world that is quick to judge them. The difference is that Christopher does not know (for the most part) that he is viewed as different or strange due to the fact that he has autism . In Finbar's case he feels every where he goes he is being judged. At the beginning of the film Finbar was reluctant to have form any relationship with Joe and Olivia. In fact it seemed that Finbar pushed them away because he was so used to being by himself and not having others accept him. Finbar as person came a long from the beginning of the film as his new friends finally gained his trust.

Finbar was afraid to accept people in his life but when he let his guard down he finally was able to develop new friendships. At the beginning of the film he was would not give Joe the time of day. Joe basically forced the friendship between Finbar and himself. Joe would constantly knock on Finbar's door asking if they could have a beer together. Olivia displayed nice gestures as well to gain Finbar's trust and friendship. Olivia had Joe and Finbar come to her house to hang out. He seemed to enjoy Joe's company a little more than he did previously in the film. As the film progressed Finbar even allowed Joe and Olivia to go train watching after denying them the opportunity numerous times before. Finbar went from shy and grumpy at the start of the film to gain friendships that he would have for a long time to come.

The Station Agent Paragraph

In the movie "The Station Agent", Finbar McBride comes to the realization that life is only as fun as you make it. At the beginning of the film, Fin is very introverted and does not like to get close with other people. This is understandable from his point of view because since he is a dwarf, he gets many odd looks from people when he is walking on the street. A scene that supports that Fin was quite introverted would be when Joe, the coffee stand guy, asks him to have a beer. Even though Fin said he drinks occasionally, he did not want to have a beer with Joe because he did not know him and he would rather be left alone. Another example would be the fact that Fin does not go to bars because he doesn't want to be looked at as a freak show by others. Later on in the movie, Fin finally goes to the bar to meet Joe and even though Joe could not make it, Fin starts talking to the local librarian. There is also a scene where Fin goes to the bar by himself and he feels that everyone is looking at him in a funny way. He responds to this by getting up on the bar table and telling everyone to look at him. This was a significant change for Fin from the beginning of the film because he never would have stood up and asked for attention in the bar from everyone, let alone go to the bar in the first place. Fin made an important contribution to the film by influencing his new town around him in the people in it. Not only did Fin change himself throughout the film, but he also made the other characters in the movie change as well. If Fin had not moved into his new town, than nothing would have changed for Fin or the other characters in the film as well.

God’s Will or an Accident?

Finbar, a dwarf who is the main character in the movie “The Station Agent”, became a much happier person by the end of the movie. At the beginning, Finbar was a loner; his boss seemed to be his only friend. When his boss died, Finbar inherited a train station. By chance, when he moved into the station, he met two people who changed each other’s life. At first, he said, “ I want to be left alone” and didn’t want to answer questions. Olivia and Joe liked Fin as a human being rather than as a freak and didn’t give up when Fin didn’t want to talk. They wanted to do things with Fin that he wanted to show that they wanted to be friends. Gradually, Fin realized that they were true friends. At one point, Olivia asked Fin why he moved to the station and Fin said with a smile, “I wanted to move near Joe.” After they became friends, Olivia became very sad because of the loss of her son and her bad relationship with her husband and tried to push Fin out of her life. Since Fin was so grateful for the love Olivia had shown him, he wanted to help her. He also realized that Joe could help and so the three renewed their friendship at the end of the movie. Fin, Olivia and Joe were important characters because their lives were affected by each other and all were quite different at the end.
