Bill Bryson, I'm a Stranger Here Myself

Chapter 5 in "I'm a Stranger Here Myself" talks about weird statistics in the United States. This chapter explains how Bill was in a library and comes across a book filled with random stats about injuries in the U.S. and which ones caught his attention. He uses these stats to make fun of how stupid people in the United States can be at times. He also imagines situations where these injuries or events could happen, he does so in a joking matter however. just to show a couple of these ridiculous occurences for example there are 30,274 people each year in the United States whop are injured by paper money of coins. another example is that there are more than 400,000 in the United States each year that are injured by beds, matteresses, or pillows. He then has the realization that he is more likely to be hurt by his matteress or his ceiling than a dangerous person.

1. Where is home to you? I've lived in lots of defferent counties and states, but I feel like Columbus Ohio is my home because I have lived here half of my life.

2. What was the last thing you read? I read a book called Society by JOHN N J. MACIONIS talking about socioly and what's aroun you.

3. What's is your favorit book? My favorit book that I have read is this year is "The Curious incident of the odg in the night-time" by Mark haddon.

4. Tell us something about you experienes with writing. I have done a lot of writing. I love wrining bus sometimes it stress me out. It's easy for me the first draft but I don't like the final draft.

5 What else should we know about you ? I am student at OSU ans studying nurse. I am living Columbus Oh and still need more way to go.

Where is home to you? - home to me is a place of safty a place peace and quiteness. its a place of comforte and good place to have peace of mind. i love coming from work to my home and sleeping soundly and resting safely.







What is the last book you read?- the last thing i read was harry potter.







What is you favorite book ? -My favorite book is Dragonball Z. i like to read the comic books




Tell us something about you experinces in writing? - My writting experience is very little. i like writting but have weakness in expressing my opinions. writting eassays and short writting i have difficulty. but over all i like writting because im expressing my feeling and thoughts. writting is amazing because its a voice i have through words. i want to improve my skills in writting and spelling and puncuation grammer. my goal in this class is to become a better writter.







What else should we know about you? - Im from somalia and came to the united States in 2000. i speak three languages arabic, somali, and english. I went to many countries including somalia, egypt, kenya, suadi arabia. I like to talk to people and sometimes be funny and make people laugh. I like to play soccer and basketball.

Where's home to you? I've lived in lots of different countries and and states, but i feel like Ohio is my home because I've lived here basically my whole life.

What's your favorite book? I don't have a favorite i only read because i have to.

Tell us something about your experiences with writing? Writing is not one of my strongest subject but i am a good creative writer. not that good at research papers.

What else should we know about you? I am talented at playing any type of sport but my four favorite sport is football, track, basketball, and soccer.

Where is home to you ?- To me home is where I came from. I came from Somalia at the age of 5, and thats where I was boring. I consider America my home also seeing that I have been here for almost 15 years, but I will always go back to my roots.

What was the last thing you read?- The last thing that I read was an article on mustangs at edmunds.com an online car magazine. It was talking about the newest shelby mustang and how it was built and how fast it goes.

What was your favorite book?- My favorite book was called CRASH I read it in the 4th grade. It was a very intresting book. It talked about a kid getting abused as a young boy.

Tell us something about your experinces in writing.- I have written many papers in my life but I was always lazy about it, im not the strongest writer even though I could be. But im writing about a topic that I like then i can write for pages. But i love the feeling when i get into a paper and i really start writing it. sometimes it just flows together into a masterpiece.

What else should we know about you?- I have been to a couple different countries. I've been to Germany, France, and Djibouti which is a little country in between Kenya and Somalia
