Strawman Paragraph
Americans love to follow rules because it gives them a sense of order and organization in their society. There are also many rules set forth, both written and unwritten, in our society that may seem out of place or unnecessary. Sure, the people who believe these rules are not needed may have a point when it comes to rules such as "Only one bounce per dive on the diving board" as Bill Bryson claims in his book (21). This rule may seem silly to most people, but having personally seen a diving board accident as a kid, these rules are indeed necessary and put there for a reason. When I was eight years old, I saw a kid take three bounces on the diving board at a local pool and he ended up slipping on the diving board and falling off head first onto the concrete. People may think that as long as they are safe, some rules may be common sense. The truth is, all rules are made for a reason.
